Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
Why I am doing this?
I took MBSR in 2011 to help manage my own stress and anxiety. I am very glad I took it and want to share the incredible power of mindfulness with others to help them become more resilient and lead happier lives.
What is MBSR?
Mindfulness-based stress reduction, aka “MBSR” is a curriculum developed by mindfulness pioneer Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn when he was at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
MBSR is unique. It teaches various practices that lead to present-moment awareness, such as sitting (or standing) meditation and mindful movement. It then moves on to how the mind and body deal with stress and teaches a mindfulness strategy for turning our reactions into more skillful responses.
The course runs for eight consecutive weeks. Each session lasts around 2,5 hours. That may sound like a lot but trust me, it goes quickly. It also includes a four-hour silent “retreat” between sessions six and seven which is a real highlight for many.
The next course starts on April 7, 2026
Orientation & Session 1: April 7, 6 - 9 pm ET
Sessions 2-8: April 14 – May 26, 6 - 8:30 pm ET
Silent Retreat: May 16, 10 am - 2 pm ET
The course will be offered online.
The fee for the program is $395 plus HST. Scholarships are available for individuals experiencing financial hardship.
